Hi, I’m Nita, the owner of Clever K9s. Meet my doggies, Peanut, Carmel, Peeka, EZ and Blade. I’ve been training and competing with my dogs for over 20 years. My first dogs were Siberian Huskies, since then I’ve had Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Border Collies, a Swedish Vallhund, Greyhound, and Rat Terriers. Our family also has fostered many dogs over the years. My dogs and I have garnered over 160 performance titles and won 2 national agility championships.
My approach to dog training is all about developing a trusting relationship with my dog in a positive manner. I never use any type of force/pain/correction type training, which can develop fear and aggression in dogs. I believe that if treat your dog fairly and communicate with them in a language they understand, you will have a true friend for life.
Clever K9s has been my dream for many years, a place where people know their dogs are not only going to be treated well, but come out even better dogs due to the compassionate care they receive here. In my past life I was an occupational therapist, specializing in neurological disorders in adults and pediatrics. I started the pet therapy programs at Theda Clark and Appleton Medical Center in the early 90's. Besides dogs, I love to read, go camping, spend time with my family, travel and ride my bicycle and motorcycle.
